The hotel is right across from the ferry terminal, which made getting there easy. Rebun’s southern tip has more hiking choices, though exploring the north is also worthwhile. We had the largest room, with a tatami space and a spectacular view. Dinner and breakfast tasted good, although Japanese-style breakfast can be a tough start to the morning. The onsen was nice, especially the outdoor section. 4.5 stars.

We got lucky with a room overlooking Rishiri Mountain. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff were helpful and nice. The food was delicious too. The ferry terminal is only about two minutes away, so it’s a great place to stay.

The food was tasty, though the servings were small. You can get more rice. The hot spring schedule switches by gender, women in the afternoon and men in the morning. The toilets felt about as cramped as the ones on a DHC8-Q400. There’s an air conditioner by the window, so the room didn’t get hot, but with no humidifier it became dry. The location is excellent, so close to the ferry terminal I nearly missed it, and the view is fantastic.

When I got burned, they brought me ice and a towel so it wouldn’t get too cold. I came away thinking there are lots of friendly staff here.

I had a great time at Hotel Rebun, with lots of activities to choose from and tasty food. It was easy to get around and go sightseeing from this convenient location, and I’d stay again. One thing to plan for: Rebun Island is remote, and not many places take cashless payments, so I’d withdraw cash beforehand.
