OYO 44604 Business Hotel Kameya

I came the night before a business trip to Kinokawa. It’s an old-fashioned, clean workers’ dormitory in the countryside, run by a caring older woman, and I didn’t mind that atmosphere. Dinner was tasty, especially the clam miso soup, which helped ease my travel fatigue. The kettle in my room was broken, but I could use a shared (?) one near the elevator. The large public bath had a surprisingly roomy tub where four people could stretch out their legs. The washing area, though, was small.

I stayed here while sightseeing at Oishi Plateau, and I’m glad I called. The food was all delicious, with breakfast and dinner each available for 1,000 yen. The room rate is reasonable at 5,000 yen per adult. It’s an old but clean, traditional business hotel, and the staff are very kind. There’s no usual lobby or reception desk, so I went into the restaurant, said I was a guest, and they showed me to my room.

They come into your room at 7:30am to change the towels, unlocking the door without permission. No one leaves at 7pm, so meals are only available until 6:30pm. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. For the same price, I think you can find a better hotel.

I was here for a three-day, two-night business trip, and the stay was unacceptable. On the second morning, a staff member came into my room without permission to change the pillowcase while I was still inside. When I got back that evening, my door was wide open, with my suitcase and other belongings left in the room. The large public bath was open around the clock and usable on the first day. On the second, it had no hot water, and there was no notice or explanation. I’ll never stay here again.
