It’s close to the castle, shops, and train station, so the location is great. Right by the castle is the samurai ninja shop Ensyu Kakegawa Yoroiya, which I highly recommend. Great value for all things ninja.

The staff were amazing and so kind when I arrived early in the middle of a rainstorm.

The view of the castle is great, but the hotel feels dirty. There were stains on the hallway carpet, and the coin laundry seemed dirty too, from the washer tray through to the dryer. It was very different from the previous Livemax hotels we’ve stayed at. Disappointing.

Update: After a long process, I finally got my refund after about 45 days. When I’m writing this, I’m still dealing with the hotel and booking. com over a refund for my $94 non-stay from August 2023. The room was overpriced, and they booked a smoking room by mistake even though I had reserved a non-smoking one. They agreed to cancel and refund it within 10 minutes of my check-in, but I still hadn’t received the money back. Booking. com gave me five different, inconsistent excuses, and Hotel LiveMax didn’t respond to any of their messages. They never contacted booking about my refund and kept my $94. Also, the hallways were stained, and the room we looked at for three minutes was disgusting. It smelled like soggy carpet and cigarettes. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS HOTEL!

Room 408 smelled like a dog, and the room was dirty. We had trouble with the cleaning too. The housekeepers weren’t careful with our things, and they broke my kid’s toy while we were out. Then they said we were lying.
