Inn By The Sea Kamakura

I could get around on foot for most things, and for somewhere farther out, like Kamakura's main shopping strip, it was only a few train stops. The Inn by the Sea is comfortable, centrally located, and has a view of the water. It’s about a five-minute walk from the station. After leaving the station, turn left and look for the “B&B” sign. Inn by the Sea is beside it, up a small laneway. There’s no breakfast at Inn by the Sea, but there are plenty of places nearby to eat. At the time of writing, there was also a coffee shop at the station.

The hosts, the location, and the spacious room were all wonderful. From the bed, we could see the sea, and having a bath was a real treat. The bathroom was outside the room, but since we were the only ones using it, that worked out conveniently. They made coffee in the morning, and the smell was lovely. I left my passport at the Hakone hotel, and the host took the initiative to help sort it out. Thanks to the incredibly kind couple, we were able to resolve the problem and get on with our trip in Hakone. Hase Station is very close, and being near the sea meant I could enjoy a morning walk along the shore path. It rained heavily the next day, and we were flustered because we didn't have an umbrella. They lent us their own. Their kindness right up to the end left me with warm memories of Hase. I'm sincerely grateful.

The Canadian and Japanese hosts live at the inn with their two kids, while guests have the upstairs rooms. They were both very friendly and served a lovely breakfast. They also gave us helpful tips on places to visit nearby and which trains to take back to Tokyo. Our room was very nice. Highly recommended!

A lovely family hosted us, and they speak English. The inn is close to the beach, but you can't drive right up to it; there's about a 50-meter walk from the road. If you're arriving by car, call ahead. They can arrange parking near the inn at an affordable price compared with public parking.
