Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kamakura Ofuna Station Kasamaguchi

If you don’t smoke or are sensitive to smells, this hotel is absolutely unsuitable. The rooms have a heavy cigarette smell, and the windows can’t be opened to air them out. The ionisers don’t help.

The staff were kind, and my room was very clean and comfortable. Being so close to the station made it really convenient to get to Kamakura and Enoshima. They also let me leave my bags early, which was very handy.

The location was perfect, right across the road from Ofuna station when you exit. Our room was clean and comfortable, big enough for two, and had everything we needed, including a hair dryer, fridge, kettle, soap, conditioner, and slippers. There’s a microwave at the end of the hallway on each floor. Check-in through the machine was very easy, mostly just scanning our passports. The receptionist helped and gave us English instructions for towel changes and room service. She also speaks some Chinese, which was helpful. The lobby had thoughtful extras for our stay, like face masks, hair treatment oil, face wash, lotion, hair ties, a hair straightener and curler, toothbrushes, pajamas, and lots of teas and coffee. It was a very pleasant stay, and I’d highly recommend it.

They have machines for both check-in and check-out, and the hotel has thoughtfully stocked most of the little things a traveler might need, like a comb, cotton pads, a shaver, hair perm supplies, facial wash cream, and a body wash towel, among plenty of other items.
