The rooms were spacious, spotless, and had lots of nice amenities. The hotel is well equipped and just a stone’s throw from Kyoto. Staff English was somewhat limited, but they made it work and communication was no problem during my stay. They were especially kind and helpful. I’d love to come back.

I had a wonderful stay, but the breakfast buffet’s pear jelly was so good I had to mention it. The texture had this great crunchy, jelly-like quality, and the flavor was incredible. I wish I could go back and have it again!

Hotel Route Inn is very close to JR Kameoka, which made getting around easy. My bedroom and bathroom were very clean, and breakfast was free, delicious, and offered plenty of choices. There are vending machines, a laundromat, and a public onsen bath. At check-in the staff gave me a free token for a drink from the vending machine, which was a nice surprise. I was very happy with my stay and will return on my next trip to Kyoto.

I love the location. It’s not for everyone, just people who are non conformist. I’m taking off stars because the woman at checkout was rude. Another foreign staff member at check-in was also quite rude, with no thank you or anything.

I came back for a second stay, once in April and again in autumn 🍂 The weather was lovely both times, and the views were beautiful. Arashi mountains are nearby too, so I went hiking from Hotukyo station twice 🏔️
