The crab was what brought me to Kasumi during a solo Golden Week trip in 2025, and this guesthouse is just down the hill from Shibayama Station. It felt a bit nerve-racking to open the door because there was no name on it like at most inns, lol, but inside it’s cozy. They explained the bath and meal arrangements after I checked in, then sent me a LINE message when the meal was ready. I even ordered drinks through LINE, which surprised me. I picked the smaller meal and was still completely satisfied. The steamed fish bones were especially good. Even though they came from fish served as sashimi, I wanted to pick off every bit of meat and drink the broth. I’d expected boiled fish, but was happy with what I got, and the ponzu was delicious too. The staff were friendly, helpful, and clear in their explanations. The hot spring felt great as well. The sink is shared, but each group has its own designated toilet, so I didn’t feel uneasy using it. The stairs are the main drawback, and could be difficult for older people or anyone who has trouble with them. I’d like to come back during peak crab season.
