I left feeling completely relaxed. The crab tempura was fantastic, too. Had a wonderful time.

The hosts were so friendly, and the room was spotless. We came with my grandparents, who hadn’t been able to get out much during the COVID-19 pandemic, and had plenty of delicious crab. The value was great. There’s a convenience store and supermarket about five minutes from the inn, which made picking up drinks and snacks easy. I’d definitely come back.

We chose this guesthouse because it’s directly managed by Yamani Suisan, and were really pleased with the stay. We visited at the end of October for Kasumi crab and red snow crab, and the full course was absolutely the right call. Each of us had crab sashimi, grilled crab, and boiled crab, followed by hot pot that warmed us right up. We even finished the rice porridge, though we felt like we might burst. The room and facilities were clean, and we used the bath twice. It’s open from 6 AM to 11 PM. Breakfast was delicious, too. We later sent crab from the guesthouse as a year-end gift, then visited the morning market center and met the president of Yamani Suisan. We bought bottled crab miso there, and it was incredibly good. We’d come back if it were around 20,000 yen per person.

This was over ten years ago, when I stayed several nights for work, but I still remember how good the value was. It cost under 10,000 yen a night, and crab hot pot, a local specialty, was served for dinner almost every night. The quality felt like a traditional Japanese inn with its own restaurant. The place looks like a somewhat larger private house, with a simple empty lot for parking, which gives it a homely feel. The rooms and baths are small but clean. I once asked about dried sandfish, and they offered to bring some from the fishing port, so I bought it as a souvenir. I’ve stayed at lots of inns on business trips in western Japan, and this one is among my top five.

We came as a family, and the dinner crab course was generous and excellent. Breakfast was tasty too. The one issue was that there was no hot water in the shower around 5 AM. I hope they can fix that.
