Breakfast kept changing during my four nights, with different dishes each day alongside the usual Japanese staples like rice and miso, plus coffee and tea. The room worked well for one person: a double bed, TV, desk and chair, fridge, hair dryer, tea service, bath and shower, humidifier, air conditioning, and luggage rack. There’s also a clean spa with shampoo, face cleanser, lotion, and free code-entry lockers. Check-in was simple, the staff were friendly and helpful, and they had regular hygiene items at reception to choose from. The location was the big win for me. It’s quiet and just 100 metres from the station exit, with buses and trains easy to catch, so I didn’t need a taxi or another bus just to reach the hotel. I don’t want to walk miles with luggage when I’m travelling. Good value, and I’d happily stay again if I’m back in this part of Japan.

The spa doesn’t allow guests with tattoos, and the TV has no smart features. Otherwise, it’s a good hotel.

The room was very good and the service was too. Being right by the station is great. I think this deserves better than the current one-star comment.

The breakfast was pitiful, and the staff’s response to a simple bedding request made the stay frustrating. We booked for three and had two double beds, a sofa bed, and extra pillows. Those extra pillows had no cases, but reception insisted we couldn’t ask for pillowcases. The next day, the receptionist on duty removed the extra pillows, saying we weren’t allowed to have any. The hotel is handy for Kanazawa Station, and it has coin laundry and free spa access. Still, customer service was terrible. The receptionists came across as exceptionally stingy and obstinate.

They were kind enough to store our bags both before check-in and after checkout, which helped a lot. The room was on the small side, but clean and comfortable. AB Hotel Kanazawa was also good value compared with nearby hotels, and the breakfast was pretty good. It’s right next to the station, too. I’d highly recommend it for a visit to Kanazawa, even if you’re only staying overnight.
