The room had a traditional low pillow, but you can ask for extra ones at no charge. Parking is automated and on-site, at 1,500 yen per night, and self check-in and check-out are available to help with queues. I keep choosing Dormy Inn when I travel around Japan because the service is consistently fantastic and the staff are so dedicated. The natural onsen is a big part of that for me. I love having indoor and outdoor bathing options, and the toiletries are provided there, so there’s no need to bring them down from the room. This branch also had a cold plunge, which was an instant favorite. There are nice little extras too: free ramen from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM, plus complimentary popsicles and probiotic drinks during the day. It’s more than just a hotel for me, it’s reliably a delightful stay.

We stayed for two days after Christmas. I asked reception manager Phyu to reserve a well-known local restaurant, and she patiently made sure the booking went through with the specific menu choices we wanted. When we arrived, our table was ready and everything went smoothly. Phyu really impressed me. She deserves a medal!

The English support was pretty limited, which made sorting out breakfast difficult. That’s a bit rough for a chain hotel right by a train station. Luckily, a woman helped us with luggage delivery when we were leaving.

The late night bath treats were my favorite part: free ice cream and snacks, plus soba as a nighttime snack. The food overall was better than I expected, especially the freshly cooked local omurice at breakfast, which makes me want to return. For two adults, we paid $250 for two nights. That included buffet breakfast, public onsen baths, a free washer and a dryer that needs coins, and complimentary snacks and alcohol. There’s also a manga room to relax in after bathing. The baths and sauna were enjoyable, though not especially memorable for me after staying at traditional ryokan with better onsen. A real onsen in the city is hard to find, so I appreciated having this one. It was clean and helped me recover from the long journey. The room had enough space to spread out luggage, unlike the small room I had at APA Hotel at Tokyo. The double bed fit two adults and was comfortable enough; the pillow was OK too. The room and bathroom smelled a little, but it was tolerable, and not as bad as Okuninu Onsen Kaniyu. I found the emergency water jug by the bathroom toilet funny but clever. There were emergency supplies and a potty corner in the elevator too, in case you get stuck. Everything was clean and the stay was comfortable. I’m glad I found a Japan hotel chain with an onsen, since not many offer one. I’d stay at another Dormy Inn in the city.

The room was a good size, and the onsen was nice. They also put out free ramen in the evening. I really liked the hotel apart from one thing: after using a lint roller, I found loads of hair. The photo showed my sixth sheet. I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels without this problem, so use a lint roller if you want to avoid sleeping with someone else’s hair. The location beside the station is hard to beat.
