We were six people, three men and three women, and having two bathrooms plus two toilets made sharing easy. The place was spotless, had great amenities, and the staff were really helpful. It’s also handy for the station and market. We’d happily stay again, thanks!

We spent the morning over coffee, then walked about ten minutes to Omicho Market for seafood. The roomy living area gave us space to plan the trip and look through our souvenirs together, while the two bedrooms meant early sleepers could separate from the night owls. This was my first machiya stay, and the quiet residential setting felt tucked away. The gourd mark at the entrance got me excited before I even went in. Check-in was simple, the room was clean, and it smelled gently of wood. Antique furniture made it feel lovely, and the heating was already on, which I appreciated in the cold weather. The futons were soft, especially the mattresses. They had tasty coffee beans, lots of amenities including yukata, and the place was very convenient for the market. I came away really satisfied with my Kanazawa trip and would stay here again. I’d also like to try the other inns in the same chain.

The steep stairs were tough for some of the older guests, so we put them in a first-floor room. In the Rabbit Room, the bedroom was up on the third floor, almost like an attic, and had a really nice feel. The entrance and ceiling are low, though, so tall people need to watch their heads. There were ten of us across four generations and five households. We rented the whole building, including both the Horse Room and Rabbit Room, which let us all relax privately. The interiors were modern, clean, and fitted with up-to-date facilities. The Horse Room dining area had plenty of room for everyone to gather, and its kitchen and bathroom were also very modern and comfortable.

The washing machine was especially useful, since I could leave my sweaty clothes behind instead of taking them home. Plates and frying pans were there too, so cooking would have been easy if I’d brought ingredients. It was my first stay here. The room was very clean and had plenty of amenities, and the air conditioning was already running when I arrived in the heat. Everything is self-service, which let me relax without worrying about other people around. The staff kindly explained how things worked and gave helpful information about places around Kanazawa.
