Nakayasu Ryokan

We’d definitely return to support this small business and its caring staff. The rooms were very clean, and the food was amazing, with more than enough to eat. It’s in a central part of Kanazawa, and the staff are polite and welcoming. The mattresses could be a bit thicker, since our backs hurt when we woke up. We also didn’t get a great wifi connection, though that may have been because we were far from the modem. I appreciated that tattoos aren’t restricted in the public bathing area, especially as I’m completely covered from the chest down. That felt quite innovative for such a traditional place. Overall, it was a great experience.

We tried the Japanese dinner and breakfast, and I’d recommend both. The ryokan is very typical, the staff were extremely kind, and it’s near the center and the main attractions. It was a beautiful experience :) I wish they’d explained the food in more detail. It was local to Kanazawa, but the staff spoke very little English, so we had to guess what things were and try them.

We had a very quiet room with a private bathroom. While it snowed outside, we slept on tatami with futons and a wonderfully warm duvet. Dinner was really good, and the staff were kind and helpful. This is a cozy ryokan, and I’d wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone wanting to try a ryokan stay in Kanazawa.

I really enjoyed the onsen, and the room had the Japanese style I like. It’s close to Kanazawa’s nice spots. A good choice if you want a vintage Japanese experience along with modern facilities.
