The three floors are clean and comfortable, and every part feels carefully equipped. Downstairs is a spacious shower, tub, and spa area with a washer. The second floor has a living room with a projector TV, kitchen, bedroom, and small work nook; upstairs is another bedroom with a lovely corner view over the street and river, plus a toilet and powder room. From outside, the place looks modest, so you might not guess how special it is. The Kanazawa Machiya team has kept the traditional machiya feel while adding thoughtful modern touches, from heated floors and well-placed switches to a shower you can adjust in all sorts of ways. It's right by the Asano river and Tenjin bridge, in a corner spot with views in several directions. There are great restaurants nearby, across the bridge and along the river. We ate at Tamura and Les mailles and loved both, though I wish we'd stayed longer, checked opening hours, and booked ahead to try more places.

Everything about arranging the stay went smoothly, with clear communication and well-organized booking details. The house was clean and had plenty of useful things, including a washer and dryer, yukata, coffee and tea, and streaming services on the projector. It sits in a quiet area, while still being close to the tea district. We had a really nice stay.

The house was spotless and well organized, and we especially enjoyed the sauna and bath. There are lots of things close by, too. Staff were so friendly and helpful throughout. They let us leave our bags a little before check-in, which was a big help, and offered to arrange a taxi or help with anything else we needed. Thanks so much!

Inside, this machiya is much roomier and more high tech than its traditional exterior suggests. The directions in the house are easy to follow, and getting in and checking out were both smooth. It's also in a convenient, accessible area. The photos and earlier reviews still match what you find there, and we had a great stay.

The contactless check-in and checkout make the service feel a little limited. It was inconvenient that we couldn't leave our bags before check-in, although there's a paid option to have luggage taken near the station on the way back. There could also be a few more amenities. The room itself was excellent, clean, and comfortable. The basement bathroom and sauna area were especially spacious and immaculate, with three scents for the löyly and a chair to relax in afterward. It's a great setup if you enjoy saunas.
