Hotel Kannami

The restaurant staff seemed very pleasant, and the course looks better maintained than before. The greens are finally starting to take root, though there are still sparse patches that need some improvement. Given the price, I suppose that’s understandable. If you want to play a few rounds to work on your skills while keeping costs in mind, I think it’s a good option.

The clubhouse and hotel have a beautiful, luxurious feel that brings the bubble era to mind. The course follows the natural terrain, with a complex layout and plenty of ups and downs. I especially like its many long short holes. It’s narrow, but there aren’t many out-of-bounds areas, so play moves along smoothly, as you’d expect at a resort course. The restaurant and hotel staff were friendly and pleasant. Getting to Kannami from the Kanto region is a bit of a challenge, since you have to cross mountains from either Atami or Mishima.

I’ve only used the golf course. On clear days, you can see Mt. Fuji from some holes, so it’s a great place for people who love the mountain. The course is quite tricky, and even advanced players should enjoy it.

The hotel and golf course together have a real bubble era feel. The course itself seemed good overall, though the greens on the outgoing nine were uneven and not in great shape.
