Hotel Route-Inn Kan-Onji

Hotel Route Inn Kannonji opened in November 2025, and the new building is clean with comfortable rooms. The location may not suit everyone: there are very few shops nearby, and the closest convenience store is about a 10-minute walk, which makes an evening snack run inconvenient. Pick up drinks and snacks before you check in. The hotel itself is comfortable and works well if you're travelling by car and plan to spend time there.👍

I could come and go freely by car after checking in, which made it easy to head wherever I wanted. I used the newly opened Hotel Route Inn Kannonji as my base for visiting Chichibugahama Beach and Mannou Park in Kagawa Prefecture. The hotel is spacious, the views are great, and the service feels stylish and pleasant. There was also a convenience store within walking distance. The location isn't ideal, as others have said, but you can avoid that by picking somewhere more convenient. I had a very comfortable stay.👍

The large, flat parking lot was free, which was handy since I drove. The front desk staff were kind and patient when I had trouble understanding Japanese. They spoke slowly, which put me at ease, and I appreciated their hospitality. Chichibugahama Beach is nearby and worth visiting for sunset photos. There were lots of people taking reflection shots on the water. Before checking in, it's a good idea to eat dinner or pick up a late-night snack. There's a 7-Eleven about a five-minute walk away. Breakfast was satisfying, with local specialty udon noodles, tea, and coffee. The restaurant was spacious, and the staff there were energetic and friendly. I also found the large public bath on the first floor relaxing after the day.

This is a new Route Inn Kannonji near the town's famous giant sand painting of the Kan'ei Tsūhō coin. It's a little way from JR Kannonji Station, so a car is more convenient. The hotel sits off National Route 11 on Prefectural Route 21, and it can be a little hard to find, though it stands out once you're close because there aren't many tall buildings around. The parking is all on level ground. The men's public bath is about average in size, with room for up to 8 people to wash at once. Since the hotel is still fairly new, you need a card key to enter. Dinner has a Kannonji-only menu with bone-in chicken and charcoal-grilled chicken. I was a bit surprised they didn't serve Sanuki udon, since this is Kagawa Prefecture, though they did have dried sardine ramen. There are no restaurants or convenience stores within walking distance.
