Fufu Karuizawa Wind of Sunshine

The in-suite onsen felt magical, and the meals were incredible. Everything about the room was beautifully arranged, and the staff seemed to know just when I was coming and going. Easily one of the most restorative, almost enlightening stays I’ve had.

The staff were courteous and quick to sort out a few problems we ran into in the room and at dinner. The room itself was lovely, and I left very satisfied despite those hiccups. I’d choose FUFU again on my next trip to Japan, and found the stay much better than Hoshinoya Karuizawa. A shuttle bus would make getting around easier.

The dinner service at Plaiga was a highlight. Our waiter, a gentleman with medium-length hair and a face mask, explained each part of the meal with care and was exceptionally polite. We didn’t get his name, but I hope he sees this and knows how much we appreciated him. The whole stay was wonderfully relaxing, and the friendly, attentive staff made me feel more at ease than I have at any other hotel, despite having stayed in many. We spent two nights at Fufu Karuizawa, in Room 212, from 7 March to 9 March 2025. Looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend it.

Dinner at the restaurant was better than some of the two Michelin star meals I’ve had in France. The room was beautifully appointed, with live plants inside for the first time in a room I’ve stayed in, plus a private hot bath and a lounger that made it easy to unwind. My first stay at a Fufu resort lived up to the buzz. It still feels like a well-kept secret, though I’m not sure that will last.
