The bath and sauna were the best part for us. The sauna was already warm when we arrived, and stepping into the bath afterward was lovely. The amenities were good too. We liked the shampoo and conditioner so much that we searched online for them to buy. We booked the Birch room for its high-ceiling lounge, and the suite was stunning, with warm wood and ornaments that fit the space. The rooms, bathrooms and sauna were clean, the beds were comfortable even on our first night, and the lighting and temperature were easy to adjust. Staff gave us an orderly in-room check-in, took time to show us around and asked if we wanted service the next day. Their English wasn’t perfect, but I appreciated how hard they tried to communicate. We could rent electric bikes and used them for a day around Kyu-Karuizawa and Karuizawa Prince Shopping Plaza, each about 5-10 minutes away. There are only a limited number, so let the staff know early if you want one for the day. Breakfast and dinner are worth trying. Breakfast is prepared the day before, then you follow the instructions to cook it, a warm, filling start to the day. Dinner had several Japanese dishes with seasonal ingredients, and the meat platter stood out for its high-quality cuts that melted in our mouths. Pick-up and drop-off at Karuizawa Station are available if arranged at least a day before arrival. My wife and I stopped in Karuizawa for a few days on the way to Tokyo to rest and enjoy the fall foliage, and we found a very good deal that helped make up our minds. It was one of the best choices of our Japan trip. We’re already planning a longer return. I’d recommend it to couples and families looking for a few restful days away.

We stayed in late March in the Maple villa with two adults and two kids. It was clean, modern and very spacious, with lots of amenities. It’s a short drive to the outlet and Kyu Karuizawa, so it works well if you have a car.

The private sauna was a real treat, and the clean room had such a calming feel that we could enjoy a special time together. I planned a birthday trip and proposal for my fiancée, and the staff were helpful from the first consultation. They accommodated my requests, including arranging a bouquet. Everyone was wonderful from arrival through departure, and I was deeply impressed by their hospitality. Thanks to the hotel, the proposal went well and became an unforgettable memory. I’m grateful we could celebrate such an important moment of our lives there. I can confidently recommend it for a special day. Thank you so much.

I loved the open-air living room and wood-burning stove, and the stay was over before I knew it. The marble floors stayed warm even when it was below freezing outside, which especially impressed me. I was in the building at the far right, on the left as you enter. At breakfast, not having to interact with staff felt like a revolutionary system. Nearly everything was perfect, and I’m grateful I got to enjoy what felt like a real vacation so soon after the new fiscal year started. I’d definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend this lodging.
