The common bath was a highlight, with a large tub kept filled with bubbly hot water. Rooms are simple and spacious, with twin beds. If your room is on level 1, you may hear some noise since the floors are all wood. Breakfast costs 1000 yen and is mostly traditional Japanese food. It’s a bit of a walk from the station. They offer free pick-up and drop-off, but the place is often understaffed, so there may be nobody available to drive. Still, it’s a lovely stay if you can get it for under 50 usd per night.

The service is amazing, and the staff are friendly. Inside, the hotel is clean, though a little worn, even if the outside looks quite old. The bathing area is nice, but the bath could be cleaned more often and the water changed more frequently.

Really good value, with a cosy, clean room that looked just like the pictures. No smoking and no bad smells. Breakfast was home-cooked, and they offer free rides to many tourist places.

The pension has a cosy, homey feel, and the room is fine for a nap. There are amenities, free Wi-Fi, coffee and tea, parking, and a microwave. The toilet and public bath are shared. It gets dark early around here, and there isn’t much street lighting. Still, it’s about an 11-minute walk to Karuizawa station and 15 minutes to Ginza street. Lawson and family mart are roughly five minutes away on foot.

The staff were friendly and helpful, though I’ve been asking for my receipt for many days and still haven’t received it. Bike rental is available for 550 yen per day, and there are drinks, chips and instant noodles for sale. Toiletries are self-service. My single room had a heater, hair dryer, fridge and TV. The room and public toilet were clean. The mattress and pillow were only acceptable, and the bath was basic. Breakfast seems to be a set meal on weekdays and a buffet on weekends when there are more guests.
