We had a luxurious stay at a beautiful hotel, with a wonderful team of staff and plenty to enjoy through the year. In winter there’s skiing and snowboarding, and one of Japan’s iconic shopping malls is nearby for a walk. Everything was easy to get to. What made the place special was the warm, genuine hospitality from the whole team. A special thanks to Mrs. Kageyama for her lovely service. We’ll definitely be back.

On our way out, someone at the entrance asked where we were headed and helpfully explained the shuttle bus. Earlier, when I wasn’t sure how to reach the ski center, a staff member offered to drive me there. The staff were very friendly and quick to help.

At check-in, nobody went over the hotel facilities, and we got little useful direction about reaching the Snowman Playground. It’s quite a distance from the east side of the hotel, yet reception seemed to leave us to figure out the way ourselves. The front door staff member also didn’t know the kids’ snow playground would be closed until December 14th. The lack of guidance was the most disappointing part of the trip, and left me feeling that guest experience wasn’t a priority.

The onsen, especially the outdoor one, was wonderfully relaxing. We also had a couple of helpful interactions with reception: one person arranged delivery of an item I’d left at my previous hotel, and another was friendly and answered our questions about the room’s air conditioning. I had a lovely stay, and the service was excellent.

The food was good, though there wasn’t much variety. The room felt a bit dated but was clean. One night here is very expensive, so staying in Tokyo and coming here for a day of skiing seems like the best option.
