The host was so friendly and helpful, and gave us good food suggestions. He showed us around the area, explained how to lay out the futon, and answered all our questions. He also had brochures ready and pointed out places for autumn viewing along our route. The room and futons worked well for four people, and the heater kept everything warm. It's about a 10-minute walk from the station. Thank you!

The owner is keen on travel, so ask him for ideas on local sights. He also rented us bikes for a very low price, and we got discount coupons for Asuka no Yu, where we spent a couple of relaxing hours in the hot spring. This lovely guesthouse is close to Asuka, one of premodern Japan's ancient cities. It's clean, well located, and offers free laundry if you stay more than one night. The rooms give you a Japanese housing experience, though sound insulation is poor, as is common in Japanese rooms.

The futon and pillow were surprisingly comfortable. It's a lovely traditional Japanese tatami room, and since the guesthouse had just opened, everything was new and clean.

If you're a woman, book the only female room. The mixed room really wasn't for me.

A very pleasant stay. The place was clean and had all the conveniences, and the host was helpful and really nice.
