The staff were kind and helpful. The place is a bit old, but the price is low.

Seeing the Shinkansen from the room is why I’d stay here again. I didn’t book the train-view plan this time, but still got a pretty good view, and next time I’ll choose that plan. The room was clean, and the meal was satisfying even though it wasn’t fancy. My one real gripe was the weak shower pressure. I’d pay a little more if they fixed that. I was in Shimonoseki for the opening of a sushi chef I know, then planned to take the Shinkansen from Hakata the next day. I figured I’d ride the Hakata Minami Line before heading home and started looking for a place to stay. Hotels by Hakata Station were around 10,000 yen, which felt like a lot for just 6-7 hours. Then I found this hotel near Hakata Minami Station. It seemed I might be able to see the Hakata General Rolling Stock Depot, and the price was 40-50% lower than business hotels near Hakata Station, so I went with it. Staying here does mean giving up a late-night ramen trip to Nakasu.

The staff are attentive, and breakfast is delicious each morning. I’ve stayed here for several nights, and it’s a nice, quiet spot close to Hakata Station South. It makes for a pleasant start before heading to work.

The room had plenty of space, even with my large suitcase open, and felt bigger than rooms in central Hakata. It was clean, Wi-Fi worked, and the older facilities caused me no trouble. One thing to know is that the key isn’t electronic and the door doesn’t lock itself. The outlets stay on while you’re out, so I could leave my laptop plugged in. Hakata-Minami Station is only a few minutes away on foot, and it’s one Shinkansen stop from Hakata Station. We used the hotel parking. Getting to Hakata’s nightlife is inconvenient, though the rate was reasonable, and a taxi from downtown late at night cost around 4,000 yen. The area is a quiet residential neighborhood, with a convenience store a few minutes away and several restaurants nearby. Breakfast isn’t buffet-style. If you’re driving to activities around Fukuoka City, this seems like a good option. I’d stay here again for a similar trip.

It’s quiet, on a one-way street. The shower pressure is weak, though manageable. If you don’t reserve parking, you’ll have a bit of a walk.
