Hotel Tamakiya' Oze-Tokura Hot Spring

My wife and I were really grateful for how the staff helped when our child came down with a fever in the evening. We had to go out to buy groceries, and they quickly arranged a car and took care of the other details. At breakfast, they even brought the meal to our room so my wife could look after our child while nursing. The service felt truly hotel-like. We stayed for one night on New Year’s Day, 2025, after three families had rented an old house in the Oze area from the end of the year. We spent time at White World and added another night, booking this place at the last minute through Jalan. Just as the reviews said, there was plenty of food at both the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The brand-name beef sukiyaki was absolutely delicious. They had hamburg steaks for the kids too, which was perfect for my wife. The hot spring water felt soft and gentle. One small suggestion: I think the futon would be better with a mattress underneath. There are affordable ones that fold easily.

The rooms and hot spring baths were clean, the home-style food was neat, and the service was friendly. I was fully satisfied. The inn is right by Oze National Park Parking Lot 1, so you can walk over and take the shuttle.

We stayed here while getting ready to hike in Oze, and the location near the bus stop worked really well. The Japanese-style room was lovely, with a fluffy futon, empty refrigerator, air conditioning, toilet, and sink. Many inns around here don’t have air conditioning, and quite a few have shared bathrooms and toilets, so having these facilities felt especially good for women. The bath isn’t large, but it has shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, and my skin felt smooth and comfortable afterward. Dinner, breakfast, and hiking rice balls were included. The servings were generous and tasty, and the staff were nice. I’d definitely like to return. My husband has already booked another trip to Oze with a colleague, so we’ll be back.
