The owner was attentive and kind, and we had a great time at the park by the roadside station he recommended. We stayed one night with our children. Our bed was neatly made and very comfortable. Depending on the season, insects may fly in. The homemade meals were filling and well balanced, including beef stew and homemade bread. Hanasaki no Yu nearby is spacious and highly recommended.

I used Sasanoyu nearby, since they apparently no longer operate the hot springs they used to have. The building’s facilities are clearly aging, and the entrance hall feels cluttered, but the room itself was neat and tidy. I stayed one night with breakfast included: homemade bread and scrambled eggs made by the owner’s father. The entrance and hallway were cold, apparently to save energy, though the oil heater warmed the room quickly.

The air conditioning in our room worked well, so we could relax comfortably. We came at the end of May 2022 as a family of three, including a baby. Children’s chairs are available at meals, though we brought our own chair belt. Hanasaki no Yu is about a five-minute drive away, and worth visiting if it’s open. We mainly planned to see Norn Minakami Flower Garden and Gunma Safari Park in Tomioka on the way back, but Oze National Park, Oguna Hotaka Ski Resort, and Hotaka Ranch Campground also seem easy to reach.

The owners came across as kind and friendly in person, almost like different people from the ones I spoke to on the phone (lol). I chose to stay out of curiosity after reading the Google reviews. The phone conversation had left me thinking they might be unprofitable or clumsy, but the bad reviews didn’t tell the whole story. I arrived in the rain unsure whether to use parking lot No. 1 or No. 2, and someone came out to show me a spot right by the entrance. Even parking lot No. 2 is only about a 30-second walk away. I’d checked in four hours later than planned, so I appreciated being let in at all. The facility is old and somewhat disorganized, with only two private baths, so be careful when it’s busy. Hanasaki no Yu, a day-use hot spring, is a five-minute drive away, and guests apparently get a discount coupon. Wi-Fi is available. There are refrigerators in the rooms, but you have to plug them in yourself to save energy. This place may not suit picky guests who expect everything neat and tidy or feel the customer is always right, but I thought it was reasonable for the price. I had both dinner and breakfast, and they were delicious. I’d stay again if I got the chance.
