Rokuroshikogen Onsen Campground

There are other facilities on the grounds, which can make things a little confusing, but having a bath right there is handy. The tent pitches have a decent amount of space between them. The cabins aren't new, though they seem to be kept in good shape, and I think it's a nice campground.

I called a few weeks ahead and asked if they had room. The cabins were full, but they offered us a spot in the lodge for the cabin rate, so I booked it. The log house felt more like temporary accommodation than a proper cabin, and the barbecue area could have used more cleaning. There was a ranch nearby, and in summer the flies were buzzing around everywhere. The plateau and hot springs sounded like a nice way to relax in nature, but my stay left me wishing the place had been tidied up more.

The campground was huge when I visited in mid-October, with the tent sites laid out in separate sections. There was also a Halloween party happening. A hot spring is available, though you won't find soap or hair dryers there.

The campsite itself is lovely and the staff are friendly, but the hot spring facilities weren't much to write home about. There was no shampoo, body soap, or hair dryer. I wish they'd at least put in hair dryers. I didn't realize my hair would stay half wet after the bath, and I ended up catching a cold (~_~;).
