It was quiet around here, with few streetlights nearby, so solo travelers may want to check in early. Having rental bikes available was a big help. The building and bathrooms are a bit dated, but clean and well maintained, and I had a comfortable stay.

I had a room with its own bath and toilet while sightseeing in Kochi. It’s a little way from the station, but close enough to walk into the downtown area, so I thought the location was good.

The two front desk staff who helped me were both kind and made a great impression. When I asked where the motorcycle parking was, they smiled and showed me. I stayed for under 4000 yen, and the hotel is within walking distance of Kochi Castle and Hifumi Market, making it a great base for sightseeing. I’m writing this to show some support since I’ve seen quite a few negative reviews. The rooms are old and have a Showa-era feel, as other people say, but mine was generally clean, with no issues showering or getting a comfortable night’s sleep. At this price it’s already reasonable, and with that location I find myself worrying about how the hotel can stay in business. I didn’t see any insects, even though it was mid-October. It may have been a smoking room, so it might not suit anyone sensitive to smoke. Some reviews mention an entertainment district, but walking back after 11 PM, I didn’t really notice streetwalkers or solicitors, and it didn’t seem so bad that a woman couldn’t walk alone, though I wouldn’t recommend doing that. If the rooms don’t suit you, book a business hotel at a higher price. From what I could see, there didn’t seem to be other nearby places under 10,000 yen. I think this is a great low-cost option for business travelers and people watching their budget.

For 3000 yen a night, I can personally overlook how old the room is.
