Cash was the only way to pay at the restaurant on the first floor, where the portions were generous and alcohol was available. There were three easy-to-use coin laundry machines too. The room looked old, but the mixer tap made the water temperature simple to adjust and the pressure was fine. The refrigerator felt a bit small. Check-in staff were very polite.

For the price, the stay was good value, and the bed was firm. The service was very good. The bath does feel old, as you might expect in a hotel. Limescale had clogged the shower head, though twisting it around gave me a softer shower. I fixed a few things in the non-smoking room!

There really isn’t anything nearby, no convenience stores, supermarkets, or restaurants. The first-floor restaurant was reserved for us while we were staying, so it’s better to shop or eat before checking in. Parking was plentiful, which made arriving late easy, and the staff were incredibly helpful. They even shifted breakfast earlier to fit our needs, though it was originally due to start at 6:30. I was there on a business trip. The hot water was unreliable: when I got back from work around 6:00 PM, my shower went cold after 2-3 minutes, but when I tried again at about 8:00 PM, hot water came through. The unit was very small, and the walls were visibly dirty, enough to make me wonder whether they’d been washed at all.

The Wi-Fi was a little weak, and the rooms look a bit dated, probably just from age. They were clean, though. It had been a few years since my last stay, and the staff were still as friendly as ever.
