The river views are lovely, especially the red and orange trees you can see from the open-air bath. There are two public baths, one restricted to guests 18 and older. The rooms are spacious, though a little dated, and Yuze itself is absolutely lovely. The dinner setup was confusing. Online, it looked like there were two or three restaurant choices, but only one is open each night, serving a buffet for 7,700 yen per person. Staff didn’t explain the options clearly, and I still don’t know what dinner choices are available on the other nights of our stay. It would help to have the restaurants, menus, and prices on paper so guests can choose and book before places fill up. The other issue was the noise. Signs around the hotel ask guests to speak softly and respect the peaceful atmosphere, but that wasn’t enforced. Even at 7:00 AM, adults were calling across the lounges and children were running and yelling. I came for the tranquility, so that was frustrating. I’d recommend staying during a quieter period, since inconsiderate guests could disrupt the experience.

We’d happily return to Yuze Hotel. It’s a traditional Japanese inn, with authentic rooms and a clean, relaxing Onsen beside the river. Breakfast was delicious, and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

The outdoor bath overlooking the stream was especially relaxing in the evening. The public onsen is in the annex, with separate bathing areas for men and women. There are two towers linked by a bridge, and the hotel itself feels more like a resort than a traditional ryokan. Near reception, you can pick up extra pillows to suit your needs. It’s an older property, but kept in good shape. The buffet has a wide selection of Japanese dishes, and staff kept everything clean and replenished.

We went in late October and the views were stunning, with mostly orange and yellow leaves and a few bright red ones. The room was large and comfortable, and the staff were friendly. The public baths were huge and perfectly clean. We also booked a private bath for a fee, in a 45-minute slot. It was quite spacious and had a nearby river view. The dinner and breakfast buffet plan was well worth the price.
