Nature Miraikan

It’s a lovely place to sit back and enjoy the scenery, with kayaks available to explore the lagoon and river. The campsites are right by the water and have a decent amount of natural shade. They’re small and close together, though I haven’t seen the park crowded yet. There’s a seawall with lots of shoreline fishing spots, plus a big boat ramp and plenty of parking.

The staff were wonderful and kind, and this is a great campground. Our sites were a little uneven. It stormed the whole time we were there, so everything got extremely muddy, but that’s down to the weather, not the campground.

I walk down to Nature Mirai several times a month with my camera to look for wildlife. The Okukubi River runs through mangrove forest, which provides excellent habitat for many species. Eco-tour operators take visitors kayaking along the river on guided nature trips. The complex sits between the river and the ocean, with campsites, cooking areas, shelters, cabins, and plenty of amenities. It’s a great place for families to visit. Nature Mirai is the English name for this attraction.

Our guide Riko was funny and knew a lot about the local ecosystem. The two-hour mangrove tour taught us so much. Highly recommend!
