HOTEL R9 The Yard Kiryu

Some rooms have parking right in front, while others mean you have to go around the room, which is the one downside. There’s a 24-hour family restaurant, Joyfull, nearby. I booked through the official website the same day and felt it was well worth the price. R9 is a container hotel, and some locations have floors that vibrate easily, but this one felt sturdy. The separate staircases also mean you don’t have to worry about disturbing other guests.

The one problem was the hairdryer, which was broken and wouldn’t heat up. I only noticed after the front desk had closed, so I couldn’t get it replaced. Otherwise, I was happy with the stay and would use it again if I get the chance. I’d been curious about staying in a container hotel, and this place was quiet despite being along a national highway, since it was on Route 122. It was easy to reach from Route 50, too. The separate rooms mean you don’t have to worry about making noise around the people next door. The facilities are new, which felt like a safer bet than an older business hotel. There were three power outlets, including one beside the bed, which was enough for me. “Iccho” and “Joyful” are nearby, so you can walk over for a meal after checking in.

The car and room were right by each other, which was convenient. On a weekday promotion I paid just over 4,000 yen. Cheap, clean, and quiet. For that price, I’ve got no complaints.

The rooms are comfortable, and the staff are all cheerful and great. They include one frozen meal, plus coffee and tea. Convenience stores, izakayas, and family restaurants are all within walking distance. I’ll definitely stay here again! (/*>∀
