Tabist Hotel Ginga Kisarazu

The rooms were dirty under the bed and elsewhere, and the front desk staff were rude. They offer late checkout but then refused to let us use it, even though it's their own rule. Terrible in every sense.

It's a dated hotel, but free onsen tickets are included.

I picked this for a business stay because it was cheaper than the places I usually use in Yawatajuku, Ichihara, and Anesaki. I've stayed at quite a few hotels around here, and this one feels about average for its age, maybe from the 1980s or early 1990s. The single room was on the larger side for the area. Its air conditioner seemed fairly new, which made a big difference compared with hotels that have central air and don't let you adjust the temperature yourself. The hair dryer was new too, with good airflow and heat. There were two free outlets at the desk and two by the bed. The parking lot seemed a little bigger than the ones in Yawatajuku, Goi, and Anesaki. It's a smoking room, but I think the smell was less strong than at smoking hotels in Anesaki and Goi. That's just my impression. The walls offer almost no soundproofing, so hallway and neighbor noise carry through. There's no auto-lock, so remember to lock the door. The shower was hard to adjust: I could only get it between very cold with a little hot water, or very hot with a little cold water. Maybe regular guests can set it more easily, but as a first-time guest I found it difficult. The toilet has a washlet, but the seat was cold.

The building was old, but the place was clean and comfortable. The walls were thin, so I could hear people talking in the hallway. I ate at Shiosai in the evening, and the food was delicious both then and at breakfast. For the price, I was very satisfied.
