The price was decent and it’s near the station, but the basics were a mess. WiFi was basically dead in both the room and lobby. I had to be within five metres of a connection to get online, and even though each floor has its own WiFi, it still never worked for me. Totally dead, bro. Fix it! Smoke from the smoking area near the lobby leaks out and smells really bad. The bathtub sink was broken, and when I arrived at the check-in counter at 15:07, my room still wasn’t ready even though check-in starts at 15:00.

After two years of traveling, this is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in, and its current rating is too low. I only asked if I could leave my bag, but they let me check in early. After four days trekking in the mountains, I wasn’t going to turn down a shower. The room was spacious, bright, comfortable, private, and very clean. There’s a private bathroom with a bathtub, plus a kitchen, lobby, and nice living room. It felt well secured. Full marks.

The rooms are a good size, and it’s a good location, but that’s about all it gets right. WiFi works maybe 5% of the time, and the bathrooms are always out of toilet roll. At least towels are free, which is handy if you’re going to an onsen. The basics are lacking. The hostel is unstaffed, and you check in at the hotel around the corner.

The best thing here is the location, and the place is quite clean since it’s new. We stayed two nights and used both a double room and a dorm, and both were comfortable. The elevator helps, since the bathroom is on the ground floor. There’s one large bath with a bathtub, plus several small shower cubicles. The only downside was having to walk to another hotel for check-in because reception is there. I think that may be temporary, as they’re very new. I’d recommend staying here.
