The part I’ll remember most is how kindly the staff handled a rain-soaked change of plans. My friend and I had to cancel our original plans in Iwate and arrived early, drenched. We asked if we could leave our bags until check-in, and while helping with that, the staff found our room was already ready and let us in early. Getting dry and taking a warm bath then made a huge difference. Thank you for the hospitality, we’ll be back. The hotel is only a few minutes’ walk from Kitakami JR train station. Inside, there are high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto lovely greenery. The rooms are spacious, modern, and well kept, and there’s a public bath and a bar/restaurant. Even with our limited Japanese, the front desk staff were patient and did their best to meet us where we were.

Ms. Sugawara made my stay at Holiday Inn Iwate Kitakami a lovely one. She welcomed me on January 31, 2026, and gave me a clear, polite introduction to the hotel. The front desk was very hospitable, and I enjoyed my stay. I’ll definitely come back soon.

I slept better here than I have on a trip in a long time. Having a choice of firm or soft pillows felt just like home, which made a real difference since I often struggle to sleep in hotels. The room seemed newly renovated, with a modern, welcoming look. It was spotless, comfortable, and arranged with care. The bathroom had everything I needed, even lotion, and I appreciated the coffee machine, air purifier, and USB-C port by the bed. The public bath was relaxing, and having washing machines and a dryer made the trip easier. Thanks to the kind older gentleman on the night shift who showed me the bath. The service was great throughout, and I’d love to stay here again.

I went in the second week of April 2025, but the cherry trees hadn’t reached full bloom yet. Hotel city plaza kitakami is near the Kitakami river, with a nice view, and you can walk along the river and enjoy Sakura.

I’ve stayed here four times as of 2025, and it’s been a dependable option at a reasonable price. Kitakami is quiet but well connected on the Tohoku Shinkansen line, and this hotel gets the job done when I’m in town. It’s a few minutes on foot from Kitakami Station via the quieter east exit. The riverside rooms look out over Kitakami River and Tenshochi Park, especially nice in spring and winter. The lobby, shared spaces, rooms, and washrooms all feel spacious, with tastefully old-fashioned furnishings. Staff are cordial and efficient.
