Morizuya

The room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely view of the foliage. In the evenings, the public baths could be booked for private use, and the outdoor bath was especially nice. Morizuya felt like a whole experience, not just a place to sleep. We were welcomed as soon as we arrived and got a taste of the culture, including a kimono rental and a tea ceremony. The staff and main host were excellent and thoughtful about the details. I’d stay at Morizuya again in a heartbeat. 10/10, and I’ll be trying to convince everyone I know to come here.

We were so glad to have a full vegan dinner and breakfast, both beautifully presented, filling, and delicious. We arranged the vegan meals through the Visit Kinosaki tourism site, and they made sure we were well catered for. In four trips to Japan, this was my first chance to enjoy a ryokan meal. It was very reasonably priced too. It was a wonderful stay at this family-owned ryokan. The owner and staff were kind, and we loved trying the kotatsu and onsen. Thank you very much!

The food was incredible, the rooms were clean and had a traditional Japanese feel, and an Onsen pass was included. The owner was very friendly and clearly made guests’ enjoyment a priority. It’s right in the center of Kinosaki Onsen, between the onsens and just a short walk from the train station. A fantastic overnight stay, highly recommend!

Breakfast was easily the best I had in Japan, and we also had the snow crab Kaiseki dinner. If you love crab meat, I highly recommend it. A cot was set up in the dining hall so our infant had a place to sit and play, and the children’s meals were suited to their ages. We were traveling with our young family, and the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with modern conveniences alongside traditional furnishings. Freshly laundered yukata were provided each day, including small sizes for children, and there were plenty of geta to choose from, also in kids’ sizes. There are two private onsen at the ryokan, both of which we used, and baskets and towels were available for the public onsen too. Hachi greeted us at the door and made sure we had photos. He was kind and engaging, and the staff made the stay feel special. Morizuya is right in the center of Kinosaki, with one public onsen close by and the others a short walk away. Just before our next train, Hachi insisted on bringing our luggage to the station. I usually like to try somewhere different each time I return to a place, but I plan to stay at Morizuya Inn again on my next visit to Kinosaki.
