Moji Port

Like heaven on earth 🌍

The ocean-facing room had a great view, and I never tired of watching all the ships go past. It takes about 12 minutes to walk from Moji Station, with a convenience store just across the street. I paid for a Saturday stay with two meals included, and it didn't feel cheap. Dinner portions were surprisingly large. The pufferfish had a rough texture, but there were lots of dishes to choose from and most of it was quite tasty. Breakfast had a good range, too. There weren't many guests, so I could eat at my own pace even on a holiday morning. The bathing area has a rock sauna. It wasn't crowded, so using it felt comfortable. The guests seemed to be mostly local families. Bring your own water, as there isn't a water server.

The breakfast buffet was far below what I expected, and it really surprised me. I stayed in a Japanese-style suite, but the price didn't feel justified, and I probably won't return. It felt more like a room that doubled as a family bath than a suite. There was a large indoor bath and a semi-open-air one, but I had to fill them with hot water myself. It was much too hot, so I had to drain some and add cold water from a hose to get the temperature right. There was no way to keep the water warm, either. Unless you took baths one after another, it went lukewarm. Having to drain and refill the big bath and adjust it with the hose was such a hassle that I came away tired instead of relaxed. If I'm paying the same price...
