The staff were nice, but dealing with the general manager was frustrating. They wouldn’t handle the problem directly, so we had to pass messages back and forth through staff, with the client speaking to staff, staff to the manager, and then back again. I don’t understand why management works this way. They should be more service-minded. The carpet in the room was dirty, and it was very hot with no way to change the room temperature. The location was so-so, with only one or two convenience stores and a supermarket nearby. I’d suggest staying at another hotel with better service.

Kokura Castle is within walking distance, and there’s a convenience store right across the street, so the location is handy. Check-in took longer than I’m used to at some other hotels in Japan, around 3 to 5 minutes to get the key. The room was functional, but it badly needs renovation.

I picked it because the EVE Live Tour 2022 was right next door, and you can make reservations online in English. The first floor had a really nice 1920s bar feel. There’s English information, though not many staff speak it, but I was still able to check in okay. I’d recommend it to foreign tourists too.

Theatre and other amenities are part of the complex, which is a popular wedding and events venue in the city. I highly recommend The Steel House, Kitakyushu, Fukuoka, for its proximity to Kokura Castle, the surrounding parks and sites, its excellent agoda ratings, and free parking. The checkout time is late, at 12 noon, which let me do my CPD lecture. Staff don’t speak English well, so bring an image, audio, or text translator! #travellentures #japan #japantravel #roadtrip #fukuoka #japanroadtrip #visitjapan #googlelocalguides #carrental

Lovely hotel and amazing staff. Vishal was especially helpful, even finding a power converter for my laptop at his own home. Thanks to Vishal and the Steel House staff.
