Hotel Route Inn Kitami Odori Nishi

We paid 9450 yen for one night for two people on a Saturday, under 5000 yen each. I’d happily come back. I’d expected Route Inn to have fewer amenities than Route Inn Grand, but I was very wrong. The front desk staff welcomed us right away and were extremely friendly and kind. Our twin room had two beds larger than singles, maybe just a little smaller than doubles. It was small, like Japanese rooms tend to be, but spotless and bright. A big window brought in lots of lovely sunlight, and the bathroom was very clean with the standard amenities. The onsen has just one small pool, but it was clean and lovely. The hotel has made a Japanese garden to look out at, so you don’t have to see the parking lot or other buildings. There was enough choice at breakfast to satisfy anyone. It wasn’t exactly gourmet, but the food tasted good and there was plenty. The breakfast staff were cheerful and quick to clear dishes and refill the buffet.

The place was old and dirty, and the air conditioning didn’t work. It was cold.

Good.

Nice.
