Lake Side Inn Beehive

The food was totally amazing, and there's an outdoor private onsen too. The inn is easy to reach and the hospitality was great. Looking forward to coming back.

Dinner was the standout, especially the beef steak with its crisp outside and juicy middle. One of the best steaks we've had. Breakfast's French toast was amazing too. The owner kindly explained every dish, and the inn itself was super clean, with floors that were literally gleaming. There are two private onsens you can reserve. We had a great stay at Beehive and would happily come back if we're in the area, and recommend it to friends heading this way in Japan.

I picked this place after checking its high online ratings for food and service while planning a trip to Kitakata for ramen. The welcome hot drink, heartfelt French dinner and breakfast all left me very satisfied. The rooms are comfortable and have everything needed. There are two similarly sized private baths, one inside and one outside. You need to book a 40-minute session. Maybe because it's run by a husband and wife, they kept the number of bath users manageable. There were seven groups during my stay, but I never felt inconvenienced by the time limits. I'd like to come back if I get the chance.

We finally found our favorite auberge, and would love to return during snowboarding season. My husband and I stayed over New Year's in 2026, and the quiet private onsen was so comfortable. Snow fell softly outside as we soaked. The bath isn't large, but having it to ourselves made for a peaceful break. Dinner and breakfast were top quality, with French and Italian food. The Aizu mountain salt soup had a whole onion in it and was incredibly good. Aizu beef steak came medium rare, crisp on the outside and moist and juicy within. I hadn't said "This is delicious!" about a meal in quite a while. The rice was freshly cooked and tasty, though I would've liked some bread too. Breakfast's crisp French toast was exquisite, and my picky-eater wife was very happy. We also loved the little comforts in the room: cute furniture, a humidifying air purifier, and a comfortable interior. My wife especially appreciated those touches. A projector that worked with Netflix let us watch the final episode of Stranger Things, newly released during the trip. Seeing the end of a show we'd followed for nearly ten years on the inn's big screen is a fond memory. It's easy to understand the high ratings. The place was remarkably clean and sparkling everywhere, and we were welcomed warmly all the way from arrival to checkout.
