The meals were a real treat, both dinner and breakfast. The local ingredients were excellent and the cooking was brilliant. We loved the stylish but comfortable room, with views of the nearby mountains. In the morning we sat in the sun, reading and having coffee. I was a little nervous because I couldn't find many recent reviews of Maki No Oto, but this gorgeous countryside auberge turned out to be a place I couldn't have enjoyed more. There are only three rooms, with private dining for guests, so it was hard to tell whether we had the place to ourselves. Every space, from the shared areas to the rooms, felt carefully put together. I relaxed as soon as we arrived, and stayed that way. I'm so glad we made time for this special experience on our trip.
