Kobe Portpia Hotel

I paid around 7,500 yen for one night for two people, which felt like a great deal for the location and hotel quality. The rooms had been recently renovated, and the hotel was clean and pleasant. There was plenty of parking in the lot, at 1,000 yen a night.

The views are a big draw here: from the high-rise you can see Osaka Bay, the harbor, and Kobe’s nightscape. Kobe Portopia Hotel is on Port Island, next to the convention center and a short walk from Shimin Hiroba Station. Free shuttles go to Sannomiya and Shin-Kobe, which is useful, though the hotel is a little removed from central Kobe. It suits business trips and events, or a quieter stay. The rooms are spacious by Japanese standards and clean. There are several restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, and fitness facilities. Reviews often praise the views, helpful staff, breakfast, and value. Ratings mentioned include around 4.3/5 on Google Maps, 8.6-9.0 on Booking, Expedia, and Trip.com, and 4.1/5 on Tripadvisor, based on thousands of reviews. It’s a strong option for a comfortable stay with scenery in Kobe.

The breakfast on the 30th floor was very good, with both Western and Japanese choices and a beautiful view. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff are kind and helpful. Getting there from Sannomiya station is easy.

The room on the 24th floor was really spacious and had an incredible view. I also liked the relaxed rooftop on the 32nd floor. Breakfast was delicious, with lots of choice, and special thanks to the kind man making fresh smoothies every morning. We stayed for a week and had a great time. The hotel itself was lovely and right next to the station, which made getting around easy. Thanks to the kind staff for welcoming us for the Special Convention Kobe 2025!
