Before I even checked in, the staff had made a great impression. I emailed them and they were at the bus stop within 10 minutes to drive me to the hotel. At reception they greeted me by name before I’d introduced myself. After check-in, they brought snacks to my room, then came up to escort me to the restaurant for dinner. It felt more luxurious than the other ryokans I’ve stayed at. The same sincere, attentive service continued throughout, sometimes so much that I felt a little shy. There’s a lovely garden on the ground floor beside the gate, and the onsen has plenty of room to avoid crowds, as well as the famous kinsen bath. The ginsen bath isn’t available to everyone, only guests in selected rooms. I hadn’t looked into that and walked to the town ginsen bathhouse to try it, but that was my own fault. My only nitpick is that the room lighting could be warmer, 2700K rather than 4000K. Very good stay, and I’d be glad to come back.

Kinzan was wonderful. I stayed with my family in a renovated suite with a semi-open-air bath, and the room, service, and food were impeccable. We loved the outdoor onsen and its special gold-colored water. The cuisine was Michelin level. Definitely recommended!

Kinzan deserves nothing but praise. The facilities were spotless and everyone was considerate and kind. Yoshida-san, the in-room service manager, went above and beyond with a constant smile. My parents had trouble reading the dinner keisaiki menu, so she translated it into Korean by hand. We were all very moved by how thoughtful she was. Best experience so far.

We stayed one night at this modern hot spring hotel in Arima Onsen. The room was spacious and fantastic, and a soak in the traditional Japanese hot spring left me feeling relaxed. The grounds were lovely, with a Koi pond and bamboo. The restaurant has a Michelin 1 Star award. We tried both breakfast and dinner, delivered and served in the guest room, and the food was fantastic and met expectations.

Large, luxurious rooms and a great onsen, with an impeccable Kaiseki dinner. The hotel is close to the city center, though walking there isn’t very convenient because there’s no sidewalk. The Wi-Fi coverage was very, very bad, which isn’t acceptable for a hotel of this standing. Still a superb hotel overall.
