Kobe Plaza Hotel West

After a long trip in the rain, we were glad Plaza W. was close to the shopping street, shopping street. Umie shopping mall and the lovely Kobe port area are also within walking distance. Thanks to all the professional staff. We'll see you on our next trip to Kobe. 😊

The rooms are clean, modern, and roomy compared with what you usually get in big Japanese cities. The hotel is on Motomachi-dori shopping street, which was a big plus, and the location is good. Great value for the money, highly recommend.

The front desk staff were welcoming, and that's the extra star for service. But the room was visibly dusty on every surface from the day we checked in. During our six-day stay, housekeeping never vacuumed the carpet or mopped the entry floor. A cotton swab stayed on the carpet and facial oil remained spilled on the entrance floor the whole time.

The rooms and bathrooms were cramped, though about what you'd expect from hotels in the same price range. We made it work, but it was a squeeze. We stayed five nights in June, and daily housekeeping was great. The staff had a really warm, friendly vibe while staying professional. The hotel was also well placed for shops, amenities, and the subway. What I especially liked was being able to use the level 2 restaurant after breakfast hours, from 11am. Guests can have complimentary coffee, tea, or water there, or eat takeaway using the microwave and utensils. When traveling around Japan, it can be hard to find somewhere to sit and eat takeaway outside your room, so this felt like a generous and clever setup. We loved our stay and hope to return next year.
