Kobe Sannomiya Union Hotel

I was nervous after reading the reviews, but didn't run into anything bad. The room was a bit small, though I figured that's Japan's standards. It's a little walk from the station, but manageable, and the place worked well for visiting Kobe. The workers welcomed me with big smiles and were very nice. That's something a Spaniard really appreciates!

For the price, this hotel is a good deal. The station isn't right next door, but it's an easy enough walk. Service was good, and while there aren't many facilities, it's a fine choice if you'll be out exploring for most of the day.

The rooms were clean and the shower was nice. The bed and pillows weren't especially comfortable, but they were okay. The location is good, not far from the metro, and it's about a 20-minute walk to Chinatown and other areas. The main trouble was the air conditioning, which staff control. Our room was 26.6 degrees Celsius, and it didn't seem like the AC was on. The fan didn't help much either. Thankfully, we could open a window in the evening and cool the room down. It'd be more comfortable if staff kept the rooms cooler or let guests set the temperature themselves. Still, we had a good stay.

The bathroom was spacious, but the room itself surprised me with how tiny it was. There was barely enough space to open our luggage. With a toddler, it felt cramped and suffocating.
