I couldn’t get Wi-Fi in my room, and the key card I was given didn’t work on the room door, so I couldn’t lock it. I went downstairs to ask for help, but there was nobody there. When I went out for dinner, I took all my valuables along and hoped my luggage would be safe. Thankfully, nothing was stolen. At checkout, someone behind what looked like a duct tape partition took the card, with only their hand sticking out. Outside, I saw them drive away, so I got the impression the place is only staffed when someone books online. It’s clearly a “love hotel,” which is fine if that’s what you’re after, but this one felt really sketchy. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes. Smoking rooms were all they had available, which was fine, but the ventilation was so loud I couldn’t use it. It sounded like a car alarm outside, and it took me five minutes to realize the noise was coming from the room. Another review mentioned feeling itchy, and I had the same problem. My skin is pretty sensitive, so I thought that might explain it. I had awful dreams about bed bugs, but there was no evidence of them, and I felt fine after leaving. Maybe the cleaning product is harsh or wasn’t rinsed off properly. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in in Japan. I worried about my belongings and questioned how clean everything I touched was. The bedside vibrator that comes with the room must have seen a lot over what I imagine are at least a few decades, judging by the included PlayStation 1. The PlayStation was pretty cool, though.

The rooms are very clean, and it was fun having karaoke right in the room. I also liked getting to choose meals and drinks included with the room, depending on its rank. Members can get breakfast and other meals at a discount, which is great.

We had a really relaxing stay in the highest-ranked room. The terrace area, like a courtyard balcony, was stunning, with a barrel sauna and an open-air bath (tsubo-yu), and it had a real resort feel. Large glass windows and sliding doors ran along the whole side of the room, so we could enjoy the gorgeous view and that VIP feeling. It was such an exciting experience, whether you’re a couple, married, with family, or out for a girls’ night. I’m so happy, thank you! Very satisfied, and I highly recommend it.

The steak was completely burnt and so tough I couldn’t chew it. The food looked nothing like the photos, a textbook case of “photo is for illustration purposes only,” lol. I seriously won’t stay here again. For the same price, there are plenty of other options if you don’t have any unusual preferences. There’s a Jaguar next door, and the price wasn’t much different that day, so I should’ve stayed there. This hotel was bad in every way. I had a middle-tier room. My whole body started itching as soon as I went in, and it kept itching even after I took a bath. The bathroom was a small modular unit, which seemed unusual for a hotel like this. The shower hose was worn and torn, with strange raised sections that made me trip several times. There was Wi-Fi, but I couldn’t connect at all. The TV remote barely worked, and searching for a song took so long that karaoke was useless. The front desk blinds were so thick, with only a 2-30cm opening for bills, that I couldn’t tell if anyone was there. Nobody called out to me.

I paid 4940 yen for a room without meals. Whether it’s worth around 5000 yen is a bit of a gray area, but I suppose a shower and futon are enough. I gave the hotel one star and don’t want to stay there again. The highest-ranked room, which was advertised as the hotel’s most recommended, was extremely dirty. The bathtub was cracked, and the showerhead was old and covered in limescale. There were snack crumbs left on the main room floor, and the bedding smelled strange, so I suspect the sheets hadn’t been changed. Service was the worst part. The woman at reception was incredibly unfriendly. When I asked her something, all she said was “Huh...” I wanted an answer, not that. She didn’t seem capable of giving a normal response, let alone answering a question. I don’t know about the other staff, but after dealing with her, I assume the rest of the staff, and maybe even the people above them, are just as bad. She doesn’t seem suited to customer service and should quit. Getting there was difficult too. Just before the hotel, there’s a very narrow bridge where you have to turn left and right to cross a stream. A car with a 3-number license plate barely fits and can almost scrape it. There may be other entrances, but those are hard to find too. After the bridge, 2-3 hotels are lined up, and this hotel’s parking entrance is much harder to spot than the others. They should at least put up an “Entrance →” sign. The exterior looked nice at first, but the room quality was awful. Maybe that’s part of the safari park concept, but the rooms don’t really fit it. If the best room was that bad, I imagine the lower-ranked rooms are worse. The customer service was truly awful too. The poor reviews and low customer numbers make sense, and I think it’s only a matter of time before the place goes out of business.
