Good value for the price!
I paid an extra 800 yen on the room-only plan for breakfast, and it was an outstanding Japanese meal. They even made me coffee afterward. The inn is in Komoro’s castle town. Amenities are limited, but the room was clean and the bed was large.
It’s a bit of a walk, around five minutes, to the convenience store. Still, you can buy drinks and instant noodles at the front desk for convenience-store prices. This feels like a modern business hotel, with everything you need at a reasonable price, and the breakfast is delicious.
The room was clean and the double bed was roomy, and the price made me very happy. The staff are polite, though they don’t say more than they need to. It’s under a 15-minute walk from the station, with Tsuruya supermarket and restaurants easy to reach. I’d use it again on my next trip to Komoro. The building is old, so you can hear the boiler and water running when other rooms use taps or hot water. The air conditioning has only low, medium, and high settings, and the hair dryer is a basic wall-mounted one. Body soap and rinse-in shampoo are provided in the unit bath, but women should bring their own amenities. Men may find the toilet small.
Meals are served on the first floor, and the food is decent. There are partitions between the tables. Dinner service runs until 9 PM, though we were asked to come by 8 PM. The free WiFi was a plus. The hotel is very old, with plain rooms that feel like a place to sleep. The lighting isn’t LED, so it’s dim. There’s a TV, a wall-mounted hair dryer, a small fridge, amenities, towels in two sizes, and a yukata. The bath, toilet, and sink are all in one unit. You have to mix hot and cold water at the tap yourself. I wish there were outlets by the bed. There’s one by the TV and another below the unit-bath entrance, but no USB outlets, so bring an adapter. The locks are old disc cylinders. There’s room for 13 cars to the right of the hotel entrance. If that lot is full, a second lot behind the hotel holds 5-6 cars. When you go out, you have to leave your luggage at the front desk, which seems fine for a quick shopping trip. There aren’t many shops around Komoro Station. Tsuruya supermarket is about a five-minute walk and closes at 8pm. A 7-Eleven is about a seven- or eight-minute walk toward the station.
