Garden Time

The meals were full of flavor and felt like they’d been made with real care. From the moment I arrived at Garden time, the host made sure I was comfortable and had enough to eat. The place itself is peaceful and welcoming, with a really positive feel. I’m very grateful I came across it. Thank you very much Alessandro (Gyakuro)

I had a lovely two-night stay during my HENRO. The owner was helpful and speaks some English, and the dinners and breakfasts were really good. There’s a large hot bath downstairs, too. I tried both kinds of room, one traditional and one with a Western bed, and liked them both. The location worked perfectly for my day: I visited temples 44 and 45, then stopped at the sauna on the way back.

Kumakogen is a highland area I really like, and having a supermarket just a few minutes away on foot was very handy. I stayed two nights and tried both a futon room and one with a Western bed. They were both warm and comfortable. The place is much bigger than the word “petit” suggests. The big basement bath was enjoyable, and the washing machine is free, yosh! Meals are good, home-cooked style. Quite a few guests eat at the same time, so the host can get a bit busy.

The folks at garden time were really friendly, and I had a great stay for two nights. I was there to visit temples 44 and 45. The bar and restaurant are lovely, and the food was good enough that there was no need to go elsewhere for dinner. I’d recommend it.
