The room was clean and functional, but it felt a little warm when we arrived. It was an unusually warm day, and our room faced south. During the winter months you can't use the air conditioning mode, so we cracked the window to let some heat out. That helped with the temperature but let street noise in.

The location is a real plus, close to the city tram and shopping area, and breakfast is included. My room was small and dark, though, and I wasn't sure about the cleanliness after finding yellow spots on the comforter cover.

So far, I'm quite pleased with the place. It's clean and fairly modern compared with some local hotels, and the room is medium sized for a cheaper hotel. Staff are kind and well mannered. It's easy to get to and right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. WiFi is free and quite fast, and there's complimentary breakfast, which I'm going to try tomorrow morning. You need to order movies on the TV, or use coins to buy a TV card in the hallway. I haven't checked out the laundry or vending areas yet.

The breakfast selection isn't huge, but it has a mix of Japanese and Western food. Location is great, only a few minutes on foot from the tram station and Kumamoto kotsu center aka bus terminal. There's a shopping street within walking distance, plus plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby.

I'm five days into a six-week stay and really enjoying it. The staff are friendly, the Wi-Fi is fast, and breakfast is free from 6:30-9:30. Everything's smoke-free, and the location makes it easy to get to bars, restaurants, clubs, malls, izakaya and other places at night. My room is clean and the service has been great. I'd recommend staying here.
