We stayed in a twin room for three nights, from August 31st to September 3rd, 2024. The house felt warmly decorated, and we followed the instructions and used everything properly. The owner speaks Chinese and can be reached on Line. 💕 The owner happened to be out taking guests fishing in Amakusa when we arrived. We found a note at the door, left our luggage in the room, then went to return the car and have dinner. When we got back, the manager showed us around and explained how things worked. The guesthouse is down an alley, so we briefly parked on the roadside to unload. The main entrance uses a combination lock. K💕 The entryway has a shoe cabinet, slippers, and mosquito repellent. On the first floor there are two bedrooms for three or four people, a toilet, bathroom, washing machine, hair dryer, and shared kitchen with basic cookware and tableware. The second floor has the butler’s room and one twin room, along with a toilet, bathroom, washing machine, hair dryer, and mini-fridge. The top floor has a quadruple room with its own toilet and bathroom, though guests should use the bathrooms on the first and second floors. There’s a skylight, so it gets very bright at dawn. Light-sensitive guests should bring eye masks. Three stainless steel clotheslines outside are available for drying clothes. A 7-Eleven is about a 5-minute walk away, and both Kawaramachi tram stop and the Kawaramachi airport bus stop are about 10 minutes on foot. It’s a quiet residential area with plenty of paid parking, and there’s a Daishogun Ramen that looks good. 👍

The kitchen, bathroom, and toilet are shared, and the place feels more like an old-fashioned guesthouse than private lodging. There’s a lock on the sliding doors of the Japanese-style room on the first floor. I wouldn’t call the price cheap. The travel site listed check-out as 11:00, but it was actually 10:00. I asked several times, but they wouldn’t change it. I was surprised to hear about the difference when they explained things on site. Apparently the woman in the photo is the owner. I have more to say, but I’ll leave it there.

It’s in a quiet area close to downtown, which is convenient. I got useful tips about dolphin watching in Amakusa and sightseeing in Aso. It seems you can also go boat fishing, and I’d like to try that next time. Thanks for everything.

I have a Korean alter ego and often eat yakiniku (Korean BBQ). I want to sleep, but I can’t.

Great trip, and I’ll be back.
