Just opposite the entrance there's a Seven Eleven, and Kumamoto castle is around a 20-minute walk away. The hotel is in central Kumamoto, but the rooms are very outdated and there's a pretty bad smell throughout. The futon and pillows were average, and the room was quite small.

The rooms are roomy and have a pleasant traditional look, but the hotel feels worn out. Our room smelled strongly of cigarettes and didn’t seem very clean.

We had a lovely stay, with friendly, helpful staff and tasty breakfast at a very reasonable price. The location was ideal, close to everything in the city.

They were kind enough to move me and even upgrade my room after I mentioned that the baby in the next room was crying. Really outstanding service, thank you. It was a convenient, pleasant stay.

There are lots of places to explore on foot from here, from grocery stores and bookshops to music stores, restaurants, and plenty of other shops. It’s right in the shopping district, so there’s plenty to keep you entertained, and the people were great.
