Richmond Hotel Kumamoto Shinshigai

The room is really spacious for what it costs per night, and the quality is very good. The hotel is inside an arcade near places to eat and shop, with a convenience store right next door. Service is excellent, too. They provide free drip coffee and face masks. I highly recommend it, definitely worth the price.

Centrally located, with friendly staff and a clean room. There’s no parking, though.

There’s plenty to do nearby in the arcade, including shops, restaurants, and bars, and the staff are very friendly. The room felt a little small, but that wasn’t an issue for us since we spent the day out and only came back to sleep. We had a wonderful time visiting izakayas at night. Great place to stay.

The front desk was quick and courteous, and our room and bathroom were clean and quiet. We had a Corner Double Room, comfortable even with two big suitcases. It had a desk that doubled as a makeup table, a mirror and lamp, plus a full-length mirror, fridge, kettle, tea and coffee, and hairdryer. The towels were very soft, the room was bright, and we could open the window. The bed was comfortable with two pillows each, there were plenty of charging outlets, and the shower tub was wide with strong water pressure. We didn’t lack for anything. You can ask for two key cards, and signing up for membership gets you an extra hour before checkout. The entrance is inside Shimotori Arcade, and the location worked well for us. We walked from Sakuramachi BC with our luggage. Right by the entrance are Family Mart, Macs, 711, a 24-hour udon place, and Mister Donut for good coffee. Katsuretsu Tei is just steps away, and Tokyu Hands is a 15-minute walk. If you’re driving, there’s a multi-level car park next to Sakuramachi Mall. We had an awesome stay and will definitely choose Richmond again.
