Smile Hotel Kumamoto Suizenji

It’s a regular business hotel and the room is small, but the team really tries hard to look after guests. The location is very convenient, breakfast has plenty of variety, and there’s a surprise snack corner. The front desk service was wonderful. Thank you for taking such good care of us. We’ll come again and again.

The staff are really nice, and it’s good value. You can hear trains sometimes, but it wasn’t too bothersome.

Our double room was compact, but it fit four of us, including one person using a wheelchair. The clerks were so sweet and helpful. They left a handwritten note about the sunshine and rail noise, though neither turned out to bother us much. In the common room there’s free cold lemon water, hot coffee, and comic books. When we checked out, they gave us gift packs with face masks and lotion. I’m not sure if everyone gets those or if it was just for us.

Being close to the station is the main plus. My room was on the second floor, above the car park and across from the staff room, and it was noisy. In the morning I could hear people downstairs unloading things and slamming doors. I also heard staff opening and slamming their door at night and in the morning. The road and railway are close too. Good luck if you end up in the same room.
